CROSSTRAIN CLASSES
CONSTANTLY VARIED...
CrossTrain is running, rowing, weight lifting, Olympic lifting, gymnastics, squatting, deadlifting, cycling, jumping, sprinting, climbing, balancing, pushing, pressing, core conditioning, skipping,..... The list is ENDLESS! Basically, CrossTrain could involve any functional movements and are constantly varied from day to day and are used in as many combinations as possible.
...FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS...
CrossTrain workouts generally involve 'functional movements'. 'Functional movements' refer to movements that you would see in daily life and are the safest, most efficient ways of moving through positions. For example, a deadlift could be representative of picking your keys up off of the floor. A squat mirrors the motion of sitting down and up off the toilet everyday, and a barbell clean mirrors the motion of hoisting your suitcase into an overhead compartment. CrossTrain Thanet coaches will help you perform these movements safely and with confidence which will ultimately be carried over into your everyday life.
...PERFORMED AT HIGH INTENSITY
CrossTrain workouts generally last anything from 2-25 minutes. You may be sceptical that a shorter high intensive workout is more effective than a long enduring run or a machine, but results do not lie. High intensity produces results. Come and try it to see for yourself!
FITNESS FOR EVERYONE...
CrossTrain is good for everyone. You could be new to fitness and exercise and looking to start something energetic to get you fit, you could be an athlete that is looking for a fitness program to improve your performance in your sport or you may just want to drop or gain some weight. Whatever your goals CrossTrain can help! CrossTrain is scalable for every level of fitness, so don't worry if you are a beginner, you won't be asked to do anything that is beyond you. Every movement has a number of progressions, so you will start at whatever level you are at and gradually work through the progressions as the weeks go by. You will improve! Just remember, you do not have to be fit and strong to start CrossTrain, but you do have to start CrossTrain to become fit and strong.
What does our CrossTrain class involve?
CrossTrain classes are one hour long group sessions, designed for all abilities. Prepare to push your limits and elevate your fitness, whether you are a seasoned functional fitness athlete, a complete beginner, or someone who is just looking to add some strength and high intensity training into your current fitness routine.
These classes are designed to improve your overall fitness and strength using constantly varied functional movements, which change every day, meaning you do not get bored. All workouts are based on the core movements of life, reflecting the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, rowing, running, and more.
Workouts can be adjusted in weight, intensity, and certain mechanics to suit the experience and fitness levels of any individual, whether you are a total fitness beginner or a competitive crossfitter.
How it Works
All of our CrossTrain classes are coach-led and follow a planned program, lasting roughly 1 hour. The basic structure of our class is as follows:
1. A coach will guide you through an extensive warm-up to get you prepared for action.
2. You may then do some strength training or skill practice where you will be coached and guided throughout.
3. The last part of the session is usually a conditioning piece which is called the WOD (Workout of the Day). The coach will instruct, supervise and correct any movements performed by you during the workout, as well as motivate and inspire you! Safety and correct form takes priority over intensity!
